FFTBG Statistics/Analysis

Fun math analysis by ProphetPeter!

If you are here, you have been tricked into clicking this link in some shape or form. But fear not, this place offers wisdom and guidance for all who seek it! Below will be charts and tables of FFTBG's All Time Data, brought to you by Bryant's Database.

Likely you already know something about statistics, but if not.. I am here to educate. We will be focusing on two key statistical measurements, Variance (VAR) and Standard Deviation (StdDev). There is more we can discuss, but this will be our starting point. Afterwards, there will be charts with a summary of what is shown.

Variance

“Variance is a statistical measure that quantifies the dispersion or spread of a set of data points around their mean or average value. In other words, it indicates how much the data points deviate from the mean value. Variance is calculated by taking the average of the squared differences between each data point and the mean of the dataset.”

  • A higher variance indicates that the win rates within a class are more spread out from the mean, implying greater variability or inconsistency.
  • Variance is useful for understanding the overall spread of win rates but doesn't provide a direct measure of the dispersion in the original units (i.e., win rate percentages).

Standard Deviation

“Standard deviation is a statistical measure of the dispersion or spread of a set of data points around their mean or average value. It provides a measure of how much individual data points deviate from the mean value of the dataset. Standard deviation is calculated as the square root of the variance of the dataset.”

  • Standard deviation is a widely used measure of dispersion because it's easier to interpret than variance. It provides a measure of the typical deviation of win rates from the mean.
  • A higher standard deviation indicates that the win rates within a class are more spread out from the mean, suggesting greater variability or inconsistency.

This chart shows us that for ALL Classes, the skill category that is most impactful is “SupportSkill”, and the least is “Accessory”. Meaning, SupportSkill's have the strongest influence to a unit and Accessories have the weakest.

If Support Skills are that impactful, let's see which classes are the most impacted.

We see in this chart, that the class most dependent on SupportSkill is the Archer class. While the least is Geomancer.

Let's go further, which SupportSkill for Archer?..

The highest WinRate% would be Doublehand, so that means !fight Archer Doublehand is a VERY strong combination.. But what about the -suffix? We can use these charts to help us further!

Archer is heavily influenced by SupportSkills in this chart, but the second biggest influence is ReactionSkills, let's go deeper..

For the suffix, we will need the lowest winrate%, in this case it would be FaithSave at a 49.03% WinRate Record.

After our data analysis, we were able to discern that a !Fight Archer Doublehand -FaithSave is a very good roll combination!

This is a list of rolls for each class that supports their stats. It isn't the BEST, but it's a great starting point.
